About us

Why we draw the line.

Drawing the Line began with one person who refused to look away. Here's the story of how that turned into a movement.

Drawing the Line: Our Story

A note from our founder on why this work exists, and what we're building toward.

Our mission is to prevent child abuse and support its survivors by using social media and creative storytelling to raise awareness, educate communities on recognizing warning signs, and amplify survivor voices while fundraising for shelters and foster care homes that provide refuge for children in need.

Why We Do This

I joined Drawing The Line because I've always admired those who have strived to help our world in some way. As I aspire to work in pediatrics one day, the thought of any child around the world having no voice or ability to prevent their abuse left me with the question of what I could do to make a difference. I hope to become someone I can admire, and this nonprofit lets me be involved in something that could make that difference.

I got involved in Drawing the Line because I stand by the fact that no child should ever have to question their safety or worth. Knowing our work helps support foster kids and prevent abuse is what drives my passion for this. Seeing the difference we can make in a young person's life shows me how much this really matters, and why this means so much to me.

Lanie Rowlands

I joined Drawing The Line because of a friend. We were kids and I didn't have words for what was happening under his roof. I only knew that he never wanted to go home. I still remember the day I realized that he stopped expecting to be protected. No child should have to reach that conclusion. Trust in a parent is the foundation of a healthy family, and abuse takes it away long after the harm stops. I couldn't help my friend then, but I can help now.

Kevin Son

I started Drawing the Line after witnessing an instance of child abuse as a little girl. Back then, I didn't fully understand the gravity of the situation, and the future implications of what the adult did to the child. But growing up the memory always stuck with me, and led me to wanting to help children be raised safely and lovingly.
